The holidays are upon us, and our Mortgage Loan Originator Philip Carcel-Munce has the Top Five Holiday Events in Jacksonville! Whether you are done with staying inside or have family visiting and need a break from the craziness, Philip has come up with the top five things to do to get you and/or your visitors out of the house and enjoying some fun-filled activities this holiday season.

 

  1. Saint Augustine’s Nights of Lights:

Nights of Lights is a beautiful event held annually from late November to the end of January. Downtown Saint Augustine, the Nation’s Oldest City, transforms into a beautiful historic wonderland decorated in twinkling holiday lights. National Geographic has ranked Saint Augustine’s Nights of Lights as one of the top ten holiday lights displays in the world! Fun for the whole family, get out and walk or an evening drive to take in all the beautiful lights displayed. Be sure to check out The Plaza de la Constitucion and The Bridge of Lions for a great selfie spot! Also, while you are in Saint Augustine, check out the Saint Augustine Distillery and make a day of it!

  1. “Totally Lit” Menorah Lighting Ceremony:

Named after the historic American writer and civil rights activist, James Weldon Johnson Park, located in the core of Downtown Jacksonville, hosts the annual Menorah lighting for Hanukkah. This family fun event with delicious food and drinks is presented in partnership with James Weldon Johnson Park, Gili’s Kitchen Catering and Bakery, and the Jacksonville Jewish Center. The menorah lighting starts at 6:30 pm but the fun starts at 4:30 pm, November 29th.

  1. Riverside & Avondale Luminaria:

This year will be the 37th annual Luminaria presented by the Riverside Avondale Preservation. Each year Riverside Avondale Preservation, or RAP, sells Luminaria kits to the community for the premiere event of the holiday season here in Jax. Take a stroll or a drive through the historic and walkable neighborhoods of Riverside and Avondale to see the holiday-decorated homes and luminarias lighting the way!

  1. St Johns Town Center:

Located next to University of North Florida, The St Johns Town Center is where you can shop till you drop and grab a bite to eat. Filled with hundreds of stores, this open-air mall gives the shopaholic plenty of choices to take advantage of the holiday sales! Be sure to check out the plaza in front of Maggiano’s with the 32-foot-tall Christmas tree.

  1. Jacksonville Light Boat Parade:

More than 30 years running, the Jacksonville Light Boat Parade is a holiday tradition must for Jax natives and visitors. Each year, boats are decorated in fun holiday lights and parade up and down the St Johns River. Head on downtown to the Riverwalk with the family and watch the beautiful boat parade this year on Nov 27th.
